Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Sia Anagnostopoulou to attend meeting of EU General Affairs Council (Luxembourg, 18 June 2019)
Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Sia Anagnostopoulou will travel to Luxembourg on Tuesday 18 June to participate in the EU General Affairs Council.
In the context of her participation, the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs will raise the issue of Turkeys’ illegal activities in the Cypriot EEZ among her peers and will discuss with them the EU’s necessary reaction.
The Council will prepare for the European Council meeting on 20-21 June 2019 by examining draft conclusions. It will also hold a policy debate on the next multiannual financial framework. Ministers are expected to exchange views on the revised draft Negotiating Box following a series of technical and political discussions in the Council.
The Council agenda also includes the issue of EU enlargement, which will be discussed on the basis of the 2019 enlargement package presented by the European Commission on 29 May.
