Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to attend meetings of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) and General Affairs Council (GAC) (Luxembourg, 14-15 October 2019)
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will travel to Luxembourg on Monday, 14 October, to attend a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC).
The FAC will be briefed on Turkey’s ongoing illegal activities in the Cypriot EEZ and is expected to consider collective reaction to these activities ahead of the European Council meeting on 17-18 October.
Developments in Syria and the Turkish military operations there are also to be discussed, along with regional and global issues, including current developments in the Persian Gulf, Libya, Afghanistan and Venezuela.
On Tuesday, 15 October, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias and Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis will attend a meeting of the EU General Affairs Council (GAC). Discussions will focus on preparations for the upcoming meeting of the European Council, which will look at, among other things, developments with regard to Turkey and the EU enlargement policy. More specifically, the GAC will consider the EU membership bids of Albania and North Macedonia.
