Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias’, statement following his meeting with the President of Malta, George Vella (Valletta, 05.02.2020)
JOURNALIST: Minister, can you tell us what was discussed during the meeting between you and the President of Malta?
N. DENDIAS: Well, it was a very interesting meeting. I have to say, we discussed little on our bilateral relations- I say little, because our bilateral relations are excellent. Of course, there Is always place for improvement.
On the other hand, we discussed a lot on the overall situation in the region, especially the situation in Libya and the situation created by the null and void memoranda signed by Mr. Sarraj and the government of Turkey. And, I have to say, I profited a lot from the wisdom of the President of Malta, who knows the region extremely well and Libya extremely well too. I had the opportunity to explain to him the position of the Greek government, the Mitsotakis government, that these memoranda create instability in the region and they do not facilitate in any way the finding of common ground for resolving the Libyan crisis. Again, I have to repeat it was a great opportunity for me and I have to thank the President for receiving me and educating me on Libya.
JOURNALIST: Thank you
N. DENDIAS: Thank you
