Repatriation of a post-byzantine stolen Icon

A post-byzantine icon (19th Century) was handed over to the Ambassador of Greece to the Netherlands by the Dutch Police Coordinator for art related crimes.

The icon was stolen in 2008 from a Church in Northern Greece.

The Ambassador expressed his highest appreciation to the Dutch authorities, so that the icon, part of Greece’s cultural heritage returned to Greece.
