Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick meets with the political leadership of North Macedonia (Skopje, 15 April 2019)
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Terens Quick, in the context of the working visit he is carrying out today to Skopje, was received by the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev. He also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrej Žernovski, as well as with Minister for Diaspora, Edmond Ademi.
Upon conclusion of his contacts, Mr Quick made the following statement:
“Today’s visit is additional proof that relations between the two countries have entered a new, very positive and productive period.
The formal visit of the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic to Skopje on 2 April, as well as holding of the First High-Level Cooperation Council, constitute landmark developments in our relations on a bilateral level, as well as a strong message of friendship and cooperation. The Action Plan, which was signed by the two Prime Ministers, is a road map for the development of political relations and our economic partnership. I would like to note that visits on a high political level are provided for in this Action Plan and are significant in this case.
I had the pleasure of meeting and having productive talks with Prime Minister Zaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitrov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Žernovski, and Minister for Diaspora Ademi. We had the opportunity to discuss recent key developments in our relations, as well as full implementation of the Prespa Agreement, upon which we place special significance.
I would like to stress that progressive expansion and deepening of our economic partnership and the projects under way in the area of connectivity will create the very necessary jobs and incomes, particularly for young people.
A new age of close and multilevel cooperation has arrived for the two countries, and we shall both reap the benefits of this partnership.”
