Foreign Minister Kotzias meets with the Foreign Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Poposki, with the framework of the proceedings of the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Brussels, 20 May 2016)
Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias had a one-on-one meeting today with his
FYROM counterpart Nikola Poposki, within the framework of the Meeting of
NATO Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Brussels.
The discussion
focused on the confidence-building measures (CBMs) launched in 2015 on
Mr. Kotzias’ initiative, and in particular on the results of the latest
round of negotiations, which was held in Skopje last month, as well as
on the operational follow-up necessary ahead of the upcoming round of
negotiations, which is to be held next month in Athens. Mr. Kotzias
expressed his satisfaction at the first positive results of the process.
Mr.
Kotzias asked for his collocutor’s views on the current political
developments in FYROM, expressing hope for a speedy return to normalcy,
in accordance with European political values and the necessary
demonstration of a culture of compromise on the part of all of the
country’s political forces, to the benefit of FYROM itself, as well as
the wider region of Southeast Europe.
