Registrations

Registration (Births, Marriages, Deaths)

In order to declare birth, marriage and death of a greek citizen the following documents are required. For your convenience and facilitation please contact the Consular office of the Embassy in order to schedule an appointment.

REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS:

  • The original birth certificate of the child (stating the names of the parents) stamped with APOSTILLE.
  • Valid passports or Greek ID cards of both parents.
  • Application form signed from both parents
  • Certificate of family status by a greek Municipality where the marriage is registered.  (valid for 6 months). If you do not have a recent one, the Consular Office may request it on your behalf.
  • The presence of the Greek parent is necessary for the registration. Otherwise an authorized person by power of attorney could do the procedure. The physical presence of the child is not required.

In case the parents are not married at the time of the birth, a child’s recognition deed will be issued by Consular authorities prior to the registration. The physical presence of both parents is required.

REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES IN NORWAY:

  • The original marriage certificate stamped by Norwegian competent authorities with APOSTILLE.
  • Valid passports or Greek ID cards of both spouses
  • Application form signed from both spouses

Certificate of family status by a greek Municipality where the Greek spouse is registered.  (valid for 6 months). If you do not have a recent one, the Consular Office may request it on your behalf.

  • The presence of the Greek spouse is necessary for the registration. Otherwise an authorized person by power of attorney could do the procedure. If both spouses are Greek, only one of them is necessary to be present.

REGISTRATION OF DEATH OF GREEK NATIONALS:

  • The Greek Passport or ID card of the deceased.
  • Certificate of registration of the deceased with a Municipality in Greece (not older than 6 months).

If you do not have a recent one, the Consular Office may request it on your behalf.

  • Original death certificate of the deceased, issued and stamped with APOSTILLE from Norwegian competent authorities.
  • Valid passport or Greek ID card of the person who comes to declare the death.

AUTOMATIC REQUEST OF MUNICIPAL CERTIFICATES
The Municipal Certificates (of birth, family status, death) must not be older than six months. If you do not have a recent one, the Consular Office may request it on your behalf, as long as you contact us at least one week prior to your scheduled appointment. You need to fill in, in GREEK, the application form, specifying the municipality you are registered with, as well as the type of certificate you request, and e-mail it as an attachment to:
