130th INTERPARLIAMENTARY UNION (IPU) GENERAL ASSEMBLY. Geneva, 17-20/3/2014

The 130th IPU General Assembly took place in Geneva, from 17 to 20 March 2014. The Hellenic Parliament was represented by a Delegation headed by Mr Dermetzopoulos and composed by Mr Konstantopoulos, Ms Katrivanou, Mr Rigas and Mrs Makri.

Mrs Dionyssia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou also participated to the mentioned Assembly and was elected Chairperson of  the IPU Standing Committee on UN Issues.

During the above mentioned General Assembly Mr Martin Chungong (Cameroon) was elected as the new Secretary General of the IPU.

The issues tackled during the Assembly were, mainly: Disarmament, Parliamentarian s  human rights protection, Sustainable Development, Children and Migrant children s rights, the UN Principles implementation, Peace and Democracy principles promotion.
