17th Session of the World Meteorological Congress - World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

The 17th Session of the World Meteorological Congress is currently being held in Geneva from 25th of May to the 12th of June 2015. This Supreme Body of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), on the 4th of June, elected Mr Petteri Taalas, Director General of the Finnish Meteorological Institute as the next Secretary General of WMO. This is a four year mandate starting on the 1st of January 2016, after electoral process.

On the same date, elections were held with regard to all principle bodies and positions of the Organization, namely the President, the three Vice-Presidents and the members of the Executive Council.

The Congress was attended by the Permanent Representative of Greece to WMO Brigadier Mr. Ioannis Poulopoulos and a representation of Experts from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS), with the support of the Permanent Mission of Greece in Geneva.
