Book of condolences for Helmut Schmidt, former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany

On behalf of the government and the people of Greece, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the German people and the government, on the passing of Helmut Schmidt, former Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as my most heartfelt wishes to his family. Helmut Schmidt will be remembered worldwide as a great democrat, a staunch supporter of European integration and a statesman who worked intensively to promote international peace and cooperation. In Greece he will also be remembered as a true friend who has deepened bilateral relations but also made our country an integral part of his European vision.
