Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visits UNOG
On Friday 5 December 2014, His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the United Nations Office in Geneva, where he was welcomed by the head of the Office, Mr. Michael Møller, who offered him rare documents and photographs pertaining to the history of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, dating back to the League of Nations period and the period of the founding of the United Nations.
Moreover, the Ecumenical Patriarch received a guide in the principal halls of the "Palais des Nations" (Conference on Disarmament and Human Rights Council), while His All Holiness also had the opportunity to admire the Cycladic idol which our country donated recently to the United Nations.
In his conversation with Mr. Møller, the Ecumenical Patriarch highlighted the pivotal role of the UN in conflict resolution around the globe, while also showing great interest to be briefed on the ongoing negotiations on Climate Change, which will culminate in 2015 during the UNFCCC Conference in Paris.
His All Holiness was accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Jeremiah of Switzerland, His Grace Bishop Makarios of Lampsakos, as well as by the Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations, Ambassador Alexandros Alexandris.
