Meeting of Permanent Representative Ambassador Alexandros Alexandris with the new Executive Secretary of UNECE C. Friis Bach (8.10.2014)

Permanent Representative Ambassador Alexis Alexandris met with the new Executive Secretary of UNECE, Mr C. Friis Bach, accompanied by Mrs Rhea Tsitsani, in charge of issues of UNECE in the Greek Mission.

Ambassador Alexis Alexandris handed a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Evangelos Venizelos to the new Executive Secretary. The discussion focused mainly on the success of the Trade Facilitation Program in Greece with the wish to further promote cooperation between our country and UNECE. The Executive Secretary stressed the role of the UNECE with a main focus on helping effectively the citizens of the Member States. The core principles expressed by the Executive Secretary, namely, inclusivity, partnership and accountability and most important of all transparency are also supported by Greece. Mr. C. Friis Bach commented on the active role of Greece in the organization and repeated his commitment in making UNECE more results oriented and effective.
