Μeeting of the Board of Trustees of the UN Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery

On Wednesday 26th  November 2015,  the Mission of Greece to the UNOG participated to meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery. We congratulated both the Board and the Secretariat of the Fund for their impressive work despite limited resources. We have pointed out different examples of contemporary forms of slavery and stressed that the international community should be able to identify slavery and distinguish it from other similar forms of human rights violations and crimes. This would eventually lead to adequate action in order to deal effectively with this deplorable phenomenon.

It is for these reasons that Greece, despite limited means, fully supports the Fund as well as the work of the Special Rapporteur in this area.
