Meeting of the Permanent Representative, Ambassador Alexandros Alexandris with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mr Peter Maurer

This week, our Permanent Representative, Ambassador Alexandros Alexandris, had a meeting with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mr Peter Maurer, during which they exchanged views on the current refugee and migrant crisis and on ways to deal with it. Our PR briefed Mr Maurer on the measures taken by the Greek government in order to deal with the unprecedented refugee and migratory flows. The PR also expressed our country’s appreciation for the mobilization of the Red Cross movement in Greece eversince the refugee and migrant crisis started, as well as for the generous support of the ICRC to the Hellenic Red Cross. Mr Maurer acknowledged Greece’s efforts and generosity towards refugees and stressed the need to find ways of fairer distribution of responsibility in addressing this reality.
