Meeting with Director of OCHA-Geneva

Ambassador Alexis Alexandris received Mr Rashid Khalikov, Director of OCHA-Geneva. The two parties discussed about the developments concerning the humanitarian situation in the Central African Republic, Afghanistan and Syria.

Regarding the recent Kuwait II Donor Conference, Mr Khalikov expressed his appreciation for Greece's contribution as well as for the cumulative pledge of the European Union which remains the major donor so far.

The Director was then presented the priorities of the Greek presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first semester of 2014. Mr Khalikov said he wished to engage positively on major issues of the presidency which include the strengthening of the international humanitarian system through the Transformative Agenda and the promotion of linkages between humanitarian affairs and development issues. Ambassador Alexandris finally thanked Mr Khalikov for the excellent cooperation with OCHA in Geneva as well as in Brussels.
