Meeting with General Secretary of the International Telecommunications Union Dr. Hamadoun Touré (5.5.2014)

Ambassador Alexis Alexandris met with Dr. Hamadoun Touré, the Secretary General of ITU accompanied by the Counsellor in charge of ITU issues Mrs Rhea Tsitsani.

The conversation focused first on the agenda of the upcoming Council of the ITU which is convening in Geneva from 6-15 May 2014 and second on the Greek candidacy to the ITU Board which will be decided in October in the  Plenipotentiary Conference in Busan, Korea. The two sides had a fruitful exchange of views on the importance of new technologies and especially the contribution of Information Technology in creating economic development, especially on the field of employment by, among others, creating new jobs for the young.
