The Minister of Development Mr Takis Theodorikakos, the Deputy Minister of Development, responsible for Research and Innovation, Mme Zoi Rapti and the Secretary General Mr Tassos Gaitanis, accompanied by the Permanent Representative of Greece to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva, Ambassador Ioannis Ghikas, visited CERN on 1st October 2024 and attended the official ceremony for its 70th anniversary.
The Greek delegation had the opportunity, among others, to visit an experiment site of CERN and meet with its recently elected new President of the Council of CERN for the period 2025-2028, Professor Konstantinos Fountas.
Greece, as a founding member of CERN, strongly supports the need to maintain its prominent position as a world leader in high-energy physics research.
