On 16 March 2015, the Secretary General of Public Health, Mr. Ioannis Baskozos met with the WHO Director General, Dr. Margaret Chan.  The Director General was interested to hear about government’s healthcare reform agenda and asked for the close cooperation between the Greek Ministry of Health and the WHO Regional Office for Europe, where she is willing to contribute, if necessary by offering her good services. 

The Secretary General highlighted that the Greek Ministry of Health is interested in exploiting WHO’s expertise and Technical Help, at any rate, within the framework of government’s priorities.  In addition, Mr. Baskozos pointed out that the economic and humanitarian crisis Greece is experiencing, affects the healthcare system by creating healthcare-related poverty and he concluded by saying that a good cooperation demands all parties to show the necessary flexibility.
