Ionian University – Classic Summer Schools 2019

The Ionian University, Corfu, Greece offers an intensive two-week summer course (1/7-13/7/2018), which focuses on seafarers in ancient Greece, including pirates, sailors and colonizers. The course explores the role of seafarers in mythical journeys, the colonization process and naval battles from the Archaic to the Hellenistic Age. The program takes advantage of the location of Corfu incorporating trips to locations of sea-battles and inquiring about the role of ancient Corcyra in seafaring.

A second course will also be offered for intensive language classes in ancient Greek, four-hours per day, which will be available for all levels of language proficiency (introductory, intermediate and advanced). These classes will take place in Corfu from July 15 to July 20 2019. Students can register for either or both courses.
