Participation of the Greek Embassy in the 5th Festival for the Mediterranean Diet, held in Tavira, Algavre (Portugal) from 7 to 10 September 2017
The Greek Embassy in Lisbon participated in the 5th Festival for the Mediterranean Diet, held in Tavira, Algavre (Portugal) from 7 to 10 September 2017. The Festival is organized in a yearly base as part of the celebration for the UNESCO's recognition of Mediterranean Diet as a Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy was responsible for organizing the Greek stand in which were presented several Greek tourist destinations. During the event some Greek traditional food products (OUZO, Chios Mastic)were also presented.
The pavilion was visited by the Mayor of Tavira Mr. Jorge Manuel Nascimento Botelho, the Deputy Minister of Rural Development Mr. Miguel João de Freitas and members of the City Council. Many Portuguese and foreign tourists (French, Germans, Britons, Spaniards) visited the Greek stand.
The famous Greek singer Mrs Savina Giannatou, invited by the organizers sang several Greek and foreign songs on Saturday, September 9th at the Medieval Castle of the city.
The Mayor of Tavira Mr. Jorge Manuel Nascimento Botelho, the Deputy Minister of Rural Development Mr. Miguel João de Freitas and members of the City Council and the Officer of the Greek Economic and Commercial Department at the Embassy of Greece in Lisbon, Mr Spyriodon Dakoglou.
