Participation of the Greek Embassy in the 6th Festival for the Mediterranean Diet, held in Tavira, Algarve (Portugal) from 6 to 9 September 2018.
The Greek Embassy in Lisbon participated in the 6th Festival for the Mediterranean Diet, held in Tavira, Algarve (Portugal) from 6 to 9 September 2018. The Festival is organized in a yearly base as part of the celebration for the UNESCO's recognition of Mediterranean Diet as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy was responsible for organizing the Greek stand in which were presented several Greek tourist destinations. During the event some Greek traditional food products (OUZO, Chios Mastic) were also presented.
The pavilion was visited by the Mayor of Tavira Mr. Jorge Manuel Nascimento Botelho, the Deputy Minister of Rural Development Mr. Miguel João de Freitas and members of the City Council. Many Portuguese and foreign tourists (French, Germans, Britons, Spaniards) visited the Greek stand.
The Greek singer Mrs Ria Ellinidou, invited by the organizers sang several Greek songs on Saturday, September 8th at the Medieval Castle of the city.
