Greek poetry in Seoul? But of course!

Now you can discover two of the most famous Greek poems, the “Olympic Hymn” by Kostis Palamas and “Ithaca” by Constantine P. Cavafy in the Seoul subway! The poems are located in the heart of the city and more specifically, at the Euljiro 1-ga, Jongak and Jongno 3-ga stations. Placed on the glass doors of the platform, written in both Greek and Korean, they allow passengers to easily come into contact with Greek culture.

You can find an episode dedicated to this 2-year project, which was carried out in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, on the “We Are Diplomats” web show, part of Arirang TV’s Youtube channel.

서울에서 그리스 시를? 당연하죠!


서울 시내 지하철역에서 그리스의 대표적인 두 시, 코스티스 팔라마스의 "올림픽 찬가"와 코스탄티노스 P. 카바피의 "이타카"를 만날 수 있습니다. 이 시들은 서울 시내 중심부인 을지로 입구, 종각, 종로 3가 역 승강장 유리문에 개시되어 있으며, 그리스어 뿐만아니라 한국어로도 번역되어있어 승객들이 시를 이해하고 그리스 문화를 접해볼 수 있습니다. 이 프로젝트는 서울시 국제교류과 주관으로 진행되었으며, 2년동안 게시 됩니다. 아리랑 TV 유튜브 채널의 "We Are Diplomats" (Exploring the world’s poetry by subway Part 1) 에서 자세한 내용을 더 확인하실 수 있습니다.
