The National Day of Greece
201 years have passed since the beginning of the Greek Revolution in 1821. The struggle of the Greeks for independence and self-determination, in the first years of the 19th century, against the conservative atmosphere of that time, paved the way for a new era. Independence and Freedom, Respect for Human Rights, Justice, Democracy and Peaceful Coexistence are and have been principles and values that guide us as a nation throughout all these years.
This year, along with the celebration of the anniversary of Greece’s independence, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Greece's diplomatic relations with Slovenia.
Acropolis, Athens
In the two centuries that have passed, even in difficult times, Greece continues its creative course and always seeks for a better future, with respect to people and peace. We are very delighted by the progress and prosperity of our friends, partners and neighbours, with whom we desire and strive continuously to maintain mutual trust ties and good neighbour relations for the common good.
This year, Greece holds the Presidency of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), which aims to strengthen good neighbourly relations and promote dialogue and cooperation between the states of our region. It provides another opportunity for the people of our neighbourhood to work together for a better future. We believe that regional cooperation is the most effective tool for socio-economic development and the consolidation of stability, security and good neighbourly relations. Its promotion is a key component of Greece’s policy.
On this occasion, we declare and remind everyone that no form of violence and oppression is acceptable. We categorically condemn any act which jeopardize peace.
We unequivocally condemn the border violation and the military invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, which has not only resulted in the loss of thousands of lives, on both sides, but also constitutes a disturbance of peace and a real threat to the destabilization not only of the European but also of the wider security system. We say no to war and violence wherever they come from.
We hope and wish for peace to prevail and we are working for this goal.
On this occasion, we are honoured to present a video message by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs AikateriniSakellaropoulou, who shares on camera her own connection with the Revolution of 1821, entitled "To deepen our self-knowledge": https://www.blod.gr/arthrografia/na-bathynei-i-aytognosia-mas/

Letos ob praznovanju obletnice neodvisnosti Grčije praznujemo 30. obletnico vzpostavitve diplomatskih odnosov Grčije s Slovenijo.
Akropola, Atene
V dveh minulih stoletjih, tudi v težkih časih, Grčija nadaljuje svojo ustvarjalno pot in vedno išče boljšo prihodnost, v spoštovanju ljudi in miru. Zelo smo veseli napredka in blaginje naših prijateljev, partnerjev in sosedov, s katerimi si želimo in si nenehno prizadevamo ohranjati vezi medsebojnega zaupanja in dobrososedske odnose v skupno dobro.
Ob tej priložnosti smo v čast predstaviti videosporočilo predsednice Helenske republike, gospe Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou, ki v kamero deli svojo povezavo z revolucijo leta 1821 z naslovom "Poglobiti naše samospoznanje": https://www.blod.gr/arthrografia/na-bathynei-i-aytognosia-mas/
