Political Relations

Under the previous racist regime of Apartheid, Greece strictly applied all the sanctions that had been imposed on the country. The democratization in South Africa in 1994 allowed the development of close relations. Greece supports the mediation efforts that South Africa undertakes in crises in the Sub-Saharan region, including in Zimbabwe and Sudan, as well as the initiatives to help Africans themselves bring about the rebirth of the African continent.
