JUNE 6, 2013 OPENING OF NEW GREECE VISA APPLICATION CENTER IN JOHANNESBURG

The Consulate General of Greece in Johannesburg, in its effort to best accommodate all prospective travelers to Greece and improve its visa services, has the pleasure to announce the opening of two new Greece Visa Application Centers operated by VFS Visa Processing South Africa Pty Ltd.

Applications will be accepted on an appointment basis operated directly by each Greece Visa Application Center at the contact details listed below.

During the first two days of operation, some prospective applicants may be accepted to submit their applications, without having booked an appointment, at the following address.

LONGER SUBMISSION TIMES every weekday (except public holidays)

The new Greek Visa Application Centers in Johannesburg and in Durban will accept visa applications for longer hours every weekday (except public holidays). After the first few days of operation, it is highly recommended that you book an appointment to avoid queues.

Once processed by the Consulate General of Greece in Johannesburg, passports will be collected through the Greek Visa Application Centers.

Please note that all visa applications lodged at the Greek Visa Application Centers in Johannesburg and in Durban will be forwarded the same day to the Consulate General of Greece in Johannesburg for approval and if everything is in order for issuing the visas.

If deemed necessary, applicants may still be asked to appear for a personal interview at the Consulate General of Greece in Johannesburg.

- The Consular charges for a Schengen Visa are the equivalent of 60 Euro – For the month of June 2013 the Consular charges are R780.

- ASpecial Courier facility for the return of processed applications is available at a fee of R150 (Inclusive of VAT) per Application.This is an optional service.

Free of Consular Charge (Service Charge still applies)
The consular charge of the equivalent of Euro 60 will be waived for applicants belonging to one of the following categories:

(a) children under twelve years;

(b) holders of diplomatic and service passports

(c) school pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training;

(d) researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research (as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research;

(e) representatives and participants of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations.

(f) Spouses and children of EU citizen traveling with the latter as long as relevant sufficient proof is provided along with the application (i.e. ticket bookings, copy of EU citizen’s valid passport and marriage certificate or unabridged birth certificate as applicable).
