Opening soon Greek Visa Application Centers in Johannesburg and in Durban

As of June 6 2013 implementation of the new Schengen Visa Information System (VIS)

Under the Schengen Visa Information System (VIS) implemented by all Schengen States’ Consulates in South Africa as of June 6, 2013, all visa applicants will have to lodge their applications IN PERSON in order to provide their biometric data (10 fingerprints digitally captured and digital photograph taken).

This new procedure is expected to significantly add to the time needed to lodge an application.

We request your understanding for any delays and inconvenience that may be caused.

In an effort to better accommodate all visa applicants, the Consulate General of Greece has entered into an agreement with VFS Visa Processing South Africa Pty Ltd. for the imminent opening (within June 2013) of Greek Visa Application Centers in Johannesburg and in Durban. Note that the biometric data captured will be stored for 5 years in the framework of VIS, period during which the applicant may not have to apply in person again for subsequent Schengen visas. 

Important: It is highly recommended that you apply at least 15 days in advance (but no more than 3 months prior to departure).
