Operation of Damascus Embassy suspended

Following the completion of the relevant procedures, and due to the deteriorating security conditions in Syria, operation of the Greek Embassy in Damascus is suspended as of today.

However, the Honorary Consulates in Aleppo, Latakia and Tartus will remain in operation, with instructions to provide all possible assistance to Greek citizens who are still in Syria. Moreover, the five EU member-state Embassies remaining in operation in Syria will provide consular assistance to Greek citizens, in accordance with the EU Treaty.

We remind you that the Foreign Ministry travel advisory stating that Greek citizens must not travel to Syria for any reason whatsoever remains in effect.
