On the margins of the High-Level Week of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, in New York, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Kotzias, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Libya, Mohamed Taha Siala.

During the meeting, the Ministers considered the outlook for Libya’s stability, as well as current issues of mutual interest, regarding security and stability in the Mediterranean. They also discussed the security situation in Tripoli, including in relation to the prospects for the reopening of the Greek Embassy there. Also raised were issues concerning bilateral cooperation in the sectors of economy, education and research.

Mr. Kotizas extended invitations to his Libyan counterpart to participate in the next Rhodes Conference for Security and Stability in the Mediterranean, and in the International Conference on “Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East”, both of which were accepted.
