According to the information provided by the local authorities, as of 17 March 2020, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the UAE has reached 98. Actually, no case of Greek patients has been recorded.
It is advised to avoid unnecessary travel, within or outside the UAE, during the current period. Moreover, citizens should comply with the directives and measures announced by the competent UAE Authorities, as well as by the National Public Health Organization (NOPH) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Greek citizens arriving in the UAE, i.e. permanent residents of the country and visitors, are required to undergo medical screenings at the airports of the UAE and may be subject to further measures, such as self- isolation. In case that the results of the medical checks confirm that a citizen has contracted the virus, the patient will be hospitalized in special medical units where necessary medical services will be provided.
All tourist attractions in the UAE, such as theme parks and cultural destinations, remain closed until further notice. Furthermore, the UAE Authorities have announced the cancellation of all kind of events; as well as the suspension of operation of entertainment centers, gyms and cinemas in order to avoid overcrowding.
UAE authorities have suspended flights to and from certain countries, as well as the harboring of cruise-liners in the Emirati ports. Given the constant adjustment of measures taken to contain coronavirus according to the changing conditions in the field, it is advisable to contact local airline companies before the departure of any flight.
Within the framework of measures taken by the Greek Government, as well as by the UAE Government in order to protect citizens, particularly the ones belonging to vulnerable groups, the Embassy's Consular Office will provide services to the public exclusively by appointment. Urgent cases regarding Greek citizens will be prioritized. Please note that already scheduled appointments of Greek citizens remain valid.
