1. As a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-26 term
Elections: June 6, 2024, 78th General Assembly, UNHQ, New York
On June 6th, Greece requested the support of the UN member states with the aim to represent them for the 3rd time in its history in the United Nations Security Council. Based on the respect for the diplomatic foundations laid by Greece’s last 2 UNSC memberships in 2005-06 and 1952-53, and the country’s dedication to the principles of multilateralism, inclusivity, equality and justice, Greece is firmly committed to promoting the values of dialogue, democracy and diplomacy as the means to advance international peace, security, development and the promotion of human rights.

2. As a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2028-30 term
Elections: October, 2027, 82nd General Assembly, UNHQ, New York
Greece has submitted a candidature for the UN Human Rights Council (2028-2030), for the first time in its history.
The main pillars of the country's participation will be respect for international law and the UN Charter, aiming at the protection of vulnerable groups, based on the principles of non-discrimination and diversity.
