Economic and Social Development

INTRODUCTION

Economic and Social Development is another name for peace.

Conscious of the need to achieve both, Greece attaches great importance to working constructively with all countries and institutions.

The macroeconomic issues and in particular financing for development, the timely achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, all aspects of sustainable development and the protection of the vulnerable are basic goals in this regard. 

To respond to urgent humanitarian crises, Greece has been systematically upgrading its humanitarian assistance program. In 1999 the MFA established Hellenic Aid as the coordinating institution within the Ministry, to oversee humanitarian assistance and development programs and guaranty swift response to emergencies.
