On 21 September 2020, the UN General Assembly held a High-level Meeting to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, with the participation of the UN Secretary – General, the Presidents of the main UN bodies, as well as Heads of State and Government who made brief interventions through pre-recorded video statements. At the meeting, which was the highlight of a series of events organized by the United Nations throughout the year to commemorate this anniversary,UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a relevant Declaration.

In his pre-recorded video statement the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the fundamental goals of UN Charter: peace and security, development and human rights, and underscored that rule of law and especially the Convention for the Law of the Sea, respect for human rights, and non-proliferation remain key values of multilateralism. Furthermore, he recognized the leading role of the United Nations and the World Health Organization in the fight against Covid-19, as well as in creating tomorrow’s new Health Architecture. Finally, he expressed his confidence that the UN can build a better world for future generations, and that the “Future We Want is mirrored in the UN We Need”.
