Meeting between FM N. Kotzias and OIC Secretary-General Iyad Ameen Madani (New York, Sept. 21, 2016)

In the framework of the 71st Session and the high-level Week of the UN General Assembly in New York, Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias had a meeting, on Wednesday September 21, with Iyad Ameen Madani, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

During the meeting, they discussed international and regional affairs, such as the Syrian crisis, affecting stability in the wider Middle East.

Foreign Minister N. Kotzias presented Greece’s positions on the Cyprus issue, stressing the need to have the system of guarantees abolished and Turkish troops withdrawn from the island.

The two interlocutors had a fertile exchange of views and perspectives on issues within the scope of OIC which are of special interest to Greece.
