Meeting of the co-chairs of the Greek-Russian Joint Interministerial Committee

A meeting of the co-chairs of the Greek-Russian Joint Interministerial Committee took place today in Iraklio. The Greek side was represented by Alternate Foreign Minister G. Katrougalos, and the Russian side was represented by Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov. Infrastructure and Transport Minister C. Spirtzis also participated in the meeting.

The two sides agreed to pursue closer bilateral economic relations, with emphasis on the sectors of energy, transport, tourism and agricultural products. The talks concerned inter-state and regional cooperation, as well as activation of the Greek and Russian private sectors via the Greek-Russian Business Council.

As Mr. Katrougalos stressed following the meeting, "an new era of economic cooperation is beginning between the two countries."
