The programme's purpose is to familiarize foreign students (Hellenists) with Modern Greek Culture, the Modern Greek Language, Literature, History and Art.

This programme is the largest organised in Greece, both with regard to the duration of studies and number of participants. It is supported by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Culture and Sports, the State Scholarships Foundation, the Greek Parliament, the Greek National Tourism Organisation and bodies of Local Authorities.

During the last six years there were more than 180 participants from Serbia.

Duration – Conditions of Participation in the programme

The duration of the course is six weeks from 3 June to 11 July 2013 and is directed towards undergraduate, postgraduate students and teaching staff members from departments in fields relative to Greek studies.

Attendance of lessons is compulsory. ONLY students who have attended at least 80% of the lessons will be permitted to participate in the progress examination which will take place at the end of the lessons, and if they succeed they will receive ECTS credits. For all levels the ECTS credit points awarded will be 6. Students of levels 4-6 who will attend at least 50% of the lectures will be awarded 1 extra ECTS point.
