International Greek Language Day
The Embassy of Greece in Stockholm organized in co-operation with the European Commission Representation in Sweden an event on the occasion of the International Greek Language Day which is celebrated yearly of February 9th in commemoration of the death of the national poet of Greece Dionysios Solomos.
In that framework, Dr. Lars Nordgren of Stockholm University gave on February 5th, on the premises of the Europahuset, the Representation of the European Commission in Stockholm, a lecture titled 'Who Needs Greek Today', while Ms Lena Olofsson-Piras gave a speech on “Multiligualism in the EU”.
Ambassador Fryganas and the Head of the European Commission’s Representation in Sweden Ms Areskoug-Mascarenhas introduced the topic with their addresses. The event was attended primarily by representatives of Swedish municipalities, librarians and officers documentation officers.
Moderator of the event was Mr Nikolaos Tsiamis Europe Direct Network Co-ordinator in the European Commission Representation in Sweden.
