International Marathon of Lausanne, 2014
On October 26, 2014, the international Marathon of Lausanne took place. The Ambassador of Greece in Switzerland awarded the winners of the race (three male and three female) with wreaths made of olive tree branches, according to the ancient tradition. On the same day, a ceremony was held, dedicated to the Coupe Bréal, the trophy awarded to the Marathon winner of the first modern Olympic Games (Athens, 1896) Spyros Louis. The original trophy is exposed at the Museum of Olympic Games in Lausanne from September 2014 to February 2015, by donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
