Faiths are as old as the existence of humanity and throughout the world they are one of the sources of diversity in this ancient land we live on.
Religions, even if they have different practices, customs and traditions, have a common message; “Togetherness, to love one another, to get to know and respect the Other”.
Traces of several cultures that have passed through these lands are disappearing at an accelerated speed. this weakening of ties between the people who have been living in Istanbul for centuries is tragic in cultural terms.
5 photographers from different religions, denominations and ethnic backgrounds aim “to understand and introduce the Other to the other cultures”, to strenghten ties amongst people, through the visual language of photography.
In the Visual Arts, especially in “documentary photography” a subject has no ending. Themes, reaching a level of saturation in time and in space, attain a shared ground.
Alberto Modiano, Berge Arabian, Emine Ülkerim, Mıgırdiç Arzivyan and Niko Manginas in their exhibition that they have called “Friday, Saturday, Sunday”, attempt to introduce faith, the Other, love, respect and understanding, sharing their documentary photographs with us.
