Παρασκευή, 18 Μαΐου 2012
A three-day workshop on Dramaturgical Dimensions in Modern Greek Literature will take place in Sismanoglio Megaro of the Consulate General of Greece in Istanbul on 17th, 18th and 19th of July 2012.
The workshop “Fictions on Stage” focuses on the possibilities of adapting for the theatre texts that draw from modern Greek literature. This exploration of the dramatic as well as performative potential of novels, novellas and short stories by major authors such as Stratis Myriveles, Georgios Vizyinos and Alexandros Papadiamantis, aims to familiarize Turkish students with elements of Greek language and style, as well as fundamental conflicts and cultural concepts that permeate Greek literature. The participants will be introduced to specific mechanisms of dramatization, together with tools of textual analysis, “creative reading”, characterization and stage representation.
The workshop will be carried out in English by Dr. Avra Sidiropoulou, lecturer of Theatre Arts at the Open University of Cyprus and artistic director of Persona Theatre Company. The texts examined will be in English translation and will be provided to all the participants before the workshop begins.
The workshop will be offered free of charge to a limited number of participants. Candidates are kindly requested to send their CVs to until June 15th.
