Esra Abacioğlu Akcan
Half Turkish Half Greek Soprano
Esra Abacioğlu Akcan started her Master’s degree in 1996 at Bilkent University and found an opportunity to study with various estimable artists. She became the first graduate of the Master’s degree at the Department of Vocal Training, at the same university and she participated in the master class of Leyla Gencer in 1999. In the same year, she succeeded in the exam which was carried out by Antalya State Opera and became the first soprano artist in this establishment.
She made her operatic debut in Antalya State Opera House as “Violetta” at La Traviata operetta in 2000. Her premiere as “Hanna Glawari” at Lehar’s Merry Widow operetta in 2001 and won much attention. She also performed a premiere in 2002 at Gaetano Donizetti’s “L’Elisir D’amone” opera with her role “Adina”. In the same year, she also performed W.A. Mozart’s “Requiem”. In 2002, she went to Austria and started her carrier studies with Kammersängerin Prof. Margarita Lilova. Then she worked with Conductor Max Cencic and Correpetitor James Pierson, Prof. Ernst Maerzendorfer and performed in various concerts at Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) during the same period. She performed “Musetta” on opera Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme in 2004. She made her recording of Chopin Songs with pianist and instructor Maria Nowotna in 2006. Esra Abacioğlu Akcan performed a recital composed of the works of W.A. Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Gaetano Donizetti, Richard Strauss and Leonard Bernstein at Vienna Konzert Haus Schubert-Saal in 2008. She sang the role “Elettra” of W.A.Mozart’s “Idomeneo” in the 2009/10 opera season and she attended "The Abduction from the Seraglio" Opera on Aspendos International Festival in the 2010/11 season. Mrs. Abacioglu Akcan performed Beethoven’s “Ah! Perfido” with pianist Kamerhan Turan at Konzert Haus Schubert-Saal. Later, she carried out interpretation studies of "The Abduction from the Seraglio" and “Ariadne auf Naxos” operas in Vienna in 2011. Also in the same year, she performed in a program called “Liederabend” composed of Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Lizst, Rachmaninof, Yalcin Tura and Selman Ada’s lieds with Mag. Dieter Paier at Bösendorfer Concert Hall in Vienna.
Esra Abacioğlu Akcan performed Mozart, Lizst, Rossini and Richard Strauss’ lieds at Bösendorfer Concert Hall in 2012. In the year 2013, she joined International North Aegean Festival and there she studied with Diva Cheryl Studer and performed many concerts in Athene, Mytilene (Lesvos) and Chios. Additionally, she performed “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” as Blonde in Aspendos Festival. Also in the same year, she performed Die Fledermaus as “Rosalinda” than she sang I Puritani as “Elvira” in Ankara State Opera House. In that time she also sang in several concerts and joined the festivals. She engaged Istanbul State Opera House in 2015.

Nurser Ugan
Born in Istanbul, she graduated from the St Georg Austrian high school in 1978 and pursued her professional music education at the Piano Department of the Istanbul State Conservatory by working with Professor Ova Sunder until 1980. She then continued private lessons with Professor Gruzmann as a student of the “Akademie für Tonkunst Darmstadt” in Darmstadt, Germany between 1981- 1983. After returning to Turkey, she completed her university education with Distinction at the State Conservatory of the Istanbul University and started her music career there. She took actively part at the piano master courses of Idil Biret and Vitali Margulis and gained a further postgraduate Degree '' Sanatta Yeterlilik'' in classical piano studies at the same institution in 1989. Between 1994-1999, she attended the Dr. Hoch’s Conservatory in Frankfurt, Germany and received a special certificate in piano education and opera-, musical- and song-accompaniment by working with Professor Claudia von Lewinski. She is teaching full-time at the State Conservatory of the Istanbul University since 2000.Besides she is performing at TV programmes, concerts, both in national and international music venues, festivals and institutions in following countries: Germany, Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, Equator, Venezuela. She is the accompanist for the Turkey nomination of ''Hans Gabor Belvedere Gesang wetbewerb'' since 2007.
