Military Issues
Citizens
residing in the UK regions of North East England, North West England,
Yorkshire, East Midlands, West Midlands, Scotland and Northern Ireland
should contact exclusively Consulate General in Manchester for all
consular services at grgencon.mch@mfa.gr
This consular
service can be served also by the Honorary Consulates of Greece in the
UK. Detailed information and contact details can be found here.
All male Greek citizens, between the ages of 19 and 45, are required to serve in the Armed Forces. Greek citizens living outside Greece may seek postponement of their conscription which extends to their 45th year of age. Postponement is granted on the basis of a certificate of permanent residence abroad, issued only by the Greek Consular Authorities. Supporting documents should be submitted only once and not every year. If the military service is fulfilled after the issue of the certificate or passport renewal, it is possible for a new certificate to be issued, if required, for the additional period (submission of additional supporting documents, as specified). You should book an appointment only if you have a pending military issue and not in order to make an inquiry. In this case you are kindly requested to send an email at grcon.lon@mfa.gr.
