Procedure for the Issuance of Greek Passports
- The Greek Consular Authorities are competent to collect applications and supporting documents on behalf of the Hellenic Police which is the competent authority to issue the passport.
- You will need to book an appointment if you wish to issue or renew your Greek Passport. In order to book an appointment please click here. You need one separate appointment for each member of your family.
- The photos you supply must meet particular technical specifications. For more information please click here
- The way Greek names & surnames are written in Latin, on Greek passports is subject to the standards of ELOT 743 (ISO 843). Click here to see how your name will appear, in Latin characters, on your new passport.
- In case the applicant does not have a valid Greek passport or a police ID card (new type- latin caracters) , he / she must come with a witness (Greek adult, holder of a valid passport / identity card), who will certify the identity.
- The period of time required to collect your passport is between 4 – 6 weeks from application. Please note that you must present all supporting documents in order to apply.
- Passports for adults or minors over 14 y/o, issued as of Sept. 1/2022, will be valid for 10 (instead of 5) years. Required administrative fees will not be increased.
