Online declaration of loss of Greek passport or ID card Greek citizens are now able to declare online the loss of their Greek ID card or passport, provided that the citizen holds a TaxisNet or web banking account. Alternatively, they candeclare the loss at their closest Greek Consular Authority. Attention: In accordance with the Community Code on Visas short term visitors to Greece (and to the Schengen area in general) must be in possession of a valid travel document. The Travel document’s validity shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from Greece (or the Schengen area in general), and it shall have been issued within the previous 10 years Attention: ETA authorisation will be needed for entry of Greek citizens in the UK from 2 April 2025

2. Declaration of birth of a child by unmarried Greek mother and foreign father

In the event that the child has been born to unmarried parents, but both parents have completed a statutory declaration of acknowledgement of parentage and both parents’ details appear on the British birth certificate2, the documents required are mentioned below.
Only the mother is required to attend in person, without the new-born.

Documents:

Application declaring a birth: You are kindly requested to complete the application prior to your attendance at the Consular Office.

Both parents’ valid passports or mother’s Greek ID card. In the event that one of the parents is an EU citizen, the declaration may be completed using the ID card of the competent Member State. Non EU citizens are required to be in possession of a valid passport.

Certificate or Confirmation of Family Status of the Greek citizen (issued within the last 6 months). Greek citizens may access their family records via the portal gov.gr using their personal TAXISnet credentials. If you do not have TAXISnet credentials, you are kindly requested to fill in an ex officio search application form providing your personal details in Greek, and email the Consular Office at , requesting a copy of your family status records from the Municipality holding your initial registration.

Full Birth Certificate issued by the British registry office duly legalised with an APOSTILLE stamp from the competent British Authorities. A translation of the British Birth Certificate is not required. Please keep in mind that the registration will not be completed, unless the submitted certificate is legalised with the Apostille stamp.

Fees: Declaration 10€ or equivalent in Sterling.
Copy 10€ or equivalent in Sterling.
Payment in cash,  debit or credit card.

For documents that authentication of the original signature is required, it is priced at 10 Euros for Greek/EU citizens and 30 Euros for third country nationals equivalent in Sterling.
