Attention: Αll the male Greek citizens, who were born in 2007, are obliged to fill in and send to their Military Office in Greece, the enumeration sheet within the period 2.1.2025-31.3.2025 Online declaration of loss of Greek passport or ID card Greek citizens are now able to declare online the loss of their Greek ID card or passport, provided that the citizen holds a TaxisNet or web banking account. Alternatively, they candeclare the loss at their closest Greek Consular Authority. Attention: In accordance with the Community Code on Visas short term visitors to Greece (and to the Schengen area in general) must be in possession of a valid travel document. The Travel document’s validity shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from Greece (or the Schengen area in general), and it shall have been issued within the previous 10 years Attention: ETA authorisation will be needed for entry of Greek citizens in the UK from 2 April 2025

Repatriation of the body of the deceased to Greece

• Original death certificate issued by the British Authorities (duly legalised with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities).  It is mandatory for certificates issued before 16 February 2019 to be legalised with an Apostille stamp. A translation of the British Death Certificate is not required.

• Death certificate issued by the Consular Office London (in respect of a Greek citizen).

• Coroner’s certificate (duly legalised with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities (the Funeral Directors usually make arrangements for this).

• Certificate of embalming (duly legalised with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities (the Funeral Directors usually make arrangements for this).

• Attestation by the Funeral Directors for repatriation of the body.
The above documents must be translated in Greek, by a recognised translator whose signature must be certified at the Consular Office. Following the submission of documents the death certificate is issued and a certification of repatriation of the body to Greece.

• Document with the flight details. Translation is not required.

Attention: The coffin should come on the day of the appointment to the Consular Office, open, so that it can be checked and sealed, by the presence of an employee of the Consular Ofiice.

Transportation of ashes to Greece

• Original death certificate issued by the British Authorities (duly legalised with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities ).

• Certificate of cremation (duly legalised with an Apostille stamp by the competent British Authorities ).
The documents above need to be translated into Greek and translator's signature has to be certified. Following the submission of documents, the death certificate and a certification of repatriation of the body to Greece are issued.

Attention: When you come to your appointment, you must bring the urn with you, which must be sealed by an employee of the Consular Office.

Fees: The declaration itself 10€ sterling equivalent.
Copies 10€ sterling equivalent.
Payment in cash or by UK issued debit or credit card.

For documents that authentication of the original signature is required, it is priced at 10 Euros for Greek/EU citizens and 30 Euros for third country nationals equivalent in Sterling.
