10/27/2016: OXI Day celebration
The Boston Lykeion Ellinidon and The Consulate General of Greece in Boston cordially invite you to celebrate "OXI" DAY with a panel presentation titled "The multifaceted role of women during the Greco-Italian war of 1940". Women, the unsung heroes of the war, undertook many different roles, from mother, wife and care-giver, to soldier, nurse, sociopolitical activist and educator.
Panelists:
-Professor Nina Gatzoulis will discuss the significant role of "The women of Pindos" in the trenches.
-Professor Panagiotis Liaropoulos will present the inspirational role of women artists and musicians.
-Consul General Ifigenia Kanara will examine the socio-political activities of women during the war.
Moderation & Translation: Sophia Koustas
Audiovisual footage will also be presented. The working language will be Greek, with translation into English
