Presentation on gravitational waves (2017 Nobel in Physics)
Dr. Erotokritos Katsavounidis, a senior research scientist and professor at MIT, will be presenting his team’s work on gravitational waves at the Consulate General of Greece in Boston on Tuesday, December 5th at 6:30pm.
Professor Katsavounidis is a member of the LIGO lab at MIT and of the respective international research consortium / group, whose founders, Professors Rainer Weiss, Barry Barrish, and Kipp Thorne, will be the recipients of this year's Nobel Prize in Physics. The Nobel Prize will be awarded to them by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on December 10, for their contributions to the creation of the LIGO detectors and the first observation of gravitational waves.
