Annual commemoration in honor of the Greek Jewry Holocaust victims

The annual commemoration of the Holocaust of the Greek Jewry took place on Wednesday, February 5, 2014. The event was organized by the Consulate General in collaboration with the American Friends of the Jewish Museum in Athens. The program included a keynote speech by Prime Minister Α. Samaras at the European Parliament on January 27, 2014, a welcome speech by the Consul General of Greece, Mr. G. Ιliopoulos, a prayer by Rabbi M. Cohen, a brief speech by the President of the American Friends of the Jewish Museum in Athens, Mr. S. Asser, and closing remarks by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America. Psalms and prayers were chanted, whereas songs of Theodorakis and Xarchakos were sung by Ms. L. Orphanou, accompanied by guitarist, Mr. S. Exaras.
