Classical Chamber Music Concert at the Residence of the Consul General of Greece in New York March 21st, 2019

Friday, 22 March 2019

The second from the "Four Seasons" Concerts Series, with classical chamber music took place at the Residence of the Consul General of Greece in New York, Konstantinos Koutras (March 21). The American friends of music who joined the concert’s audience had many good reasons to celebrate: the Greek National Day, the spring equinox and the anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach’s birthday (March 21, 1685).

The event was ‘orchestrated’ by ‘Chamber Music Hellas’ a New York-based non-profit organization that operates classical chamber music festivals in regions of Greece that remain outside the country’s main tourist destinations. Founded on the belief that music enhances the life not only of individual listeners but of entire communities, CMH aims to bring prominent classical musicians to perform concerts in Greece’s rural areas and remote islands, through its Thessaly Chamber Music Festival. Enhancing the musical experience, the Festival hosts, in addition, parallel events and lectures of an educative character.

The concert held at the Residence of the Consul General was performed by the artists: Lowell Liebermann (piano), William Hobbs (piano), Chiu-Chen Liu (viola), Lucie Robert (violin) and Scott Ballantyne (cello). The repertoire included works by Bach, Mozart, the Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, as well as compositions by Lowell Liebermann.

The event was under the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
