Community & Technology STEM Symposium by the Hellenic Mentoring Initiative & the Consulate of Greece in New York
On May 31st, the Hellenic Mentoring Initiative together with the Consulate of Greece in New York held their “2019 Community and Technology STEM Symposium,” featuring talks from celebrated specialists in academic and industrial S.T.E.M. fields, with the aim to provide today's young professional with valuable perspectives on innovative ventures, research, and leadership.
The keynote speech was delivered by John Pyrovolakis founder and CEO of Innovation Accelerator, a vertically integrated innovation practice with a focus on commercialization and venture capital.
Areas of special interest included the place of women in STEM professions, philanthropy, and technology, sustainability as well as the question of access. Speakers also emphasized the educational opportunities arising for students and young professionals in a global community.
Addressing the event, the Consul General of Greece in New York set out his vision for venture capital firms investing in Greek technology start-ups and discussed Greece’s strong and weak points in creating its own knowledge-based economy. He also stressed the importance of sustainability in designing tomorrow's partnerships and national strategy.
Philo4Thought Hellenic Mentoring Initiative is a philanthropic educational nonprofit foundation established in 2009. It provides valuable developmental services to college students, new grads and transitioning young professionals.
