Genocide of the Greeks of Pontos

On Friday, May 16th 2014 an event to commemorate the Pontian genocide was held under the auspices of the Consulate General, at the Greek Press Office in New York. The event was organized by the Panpontian Federation of USA-Canada, in cooperation with other Pontian associations and the “Holy Institution Panagia Soumela". The participants had the opportunity to listen from Dr. Taner Akçam, history professor at Clark University and Dr. Konstantinos Chatzidimitriou, author and historian. The poet Mr. Stefanos Papadopoulos recited poems from his third anthology "The Black Sea". On Monday, May 19th, the Greek flag was raised at the Bowling Green park in Manhattan.
